CTI publishes trade and business intelligence for Canadian businesses. Our editorial commitment is to accuracy, source transparency, timeliness, and usefulness. Every claim we publish is sourced from a verifiable primary source and checked before publication.
CTI draws primarily from official Canadian government sources — Statistics Canada, Global Affairs Canada, NRCan, ISED, CBSA, EDC, BDC — supplemented by international government and institutional sources including the World Bank, IFC, OECD, WTO, and allied-nation trade ministries. We do not rely on press releases as sole sources for factual claims. Commercial or industry sources are used for context and are identified as such.
A full list of sources used in our pipeline is maintained at canadiantradeintel.ca/methodology.
Every CTI intelligence brief is processed through an automated fact-checking system that cross-validates specific factual claims against primary government sources before publication. Claims that cannot be verified are either corrected, removed, or flagged with a [VERIFY] notation visible in the full report. Our fact-checker has a standing claims database of key statistics that is updated when primary sources change.
CTI does not accept payment to influence the substance of intelligence reporting. Sponsored content, if offered in future, will be clearly identified as such and will not affect the editorial independence of our sector reports. We have no financial relationships with companies mentioned in our intelligence content that could create editorial conflicts. Our procurement intelligence covers opportunities from public government sources — we do not accept payment to feature specific tenders.
When we identify an error in published content, we correct it promptly and note the correction in the affected report. Significant corrections are communicated to subscribers by email. We do not silently edit published reports without notation.
CTI's weekly intelligence reports are generated with the assistance of large language models (Claude by Anthropic) operating over primary source data collected by our automated pipeline. AI assistance does not replace editorial judgment — all content is reviewed against primary sources through our fact-checking process before publication. We disclose our methodology openly at canadiantradeintel.ca/methodology.
Trade intelligence is inherently time-sensitive. Conditions described in CTI reports reflect the state of available information at the time of publication each Tuesday. We make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy but cannot guarantee that all information remains current at the time of reading. Subscribers are encouraged to verify significant commercial decisions against primary sources.
CTI intelligence is published for informational purposes only. It does not constitute legal, financial, investment, tax, or trade compliance advice. No information on this platform should be relied upon as the sole basis for any business, commercial, or legal decision.
CTI's coverage of trade agreements, export controls, sanctions, tariffs, regulatory changes, and government programmes does not constitute legal advice. Trade law is complex and jurisdiction-specific. Before entering a new market, applying for export permits, classifying goods under HS codes, or making representations about sanctions compliance, consult a qualified trade lawyer or customs broker.
CTI's coverage of commodity prices, company performance, TSX/TSX-V stock movements, and market opportunity scores is published as business intelligence, not investment advice. CTI is not registered as an investment advisor in any jurisdiction. Nothing on this platform should be construed as a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or financial instrument.
CTI's sanctions screening tool and regulatory monitoring content are provided for awareness purposes only. A result of "not found" in CTI's database does not constitute a sanctions compliance determination and should not be relied upon as such. Formal sanctions compliance requires consultation with qualified legal counsel and reference to official government sanctions lists maintained by Global Affairs Canada, OFAC, and other relevant authorities.
While CTI makes substantial efforts to ensure the accuracy and currency of its intelligence content, the trade environment changes rapidly and information may become outdated between publication dates. CTI makes no warranty, express or implied, as to the completeness, accuracy, or fitness for purpose of any information on this platform.
CTI links to government and third-party sources as references. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or availability of external websites. Links to government programme pages and other external resources are provided for convenience and do not constitute an endorsement.
Use CTI intelligence as a starting point for your research and commercial planning — not as a substitute for professional advice. When significant commercial, legal, or financial decisions are at stake, verify with qualified professionals.
